Dual Cartridge Seal (AST80)
The AST80 dual mechanical seal incorporates liquid shear pumping to remove heat from the seal faces, and can be operated with a pressurized barrier or non-pressurized buffer fluid system.

The AST80 seal can be used in 3 ways:
Double Seal
With barrier fluid pressure higher than product pressure, the AST80 prevents leakage of toxic or hazardous fluids into the environment. The barrier fluid provides lubrication to seal gases and non-lubricating fluids.
Tandem Seal
By using a buffer fluid with pressure lower than process, the AST80 can reduce pressure differential across a single set of seal faces.
Spare Seal
With unpressurized buffer fluid, the outboard seal of the AST80 runs "at idle" as a standby seal. If the inboard seal fails, the outboard seal provides primary protection, eliminating unscheduled shutdown of batch processes.
Off-The-Shelf…
AST80 seals are available off-the-shelf to fit most ANSI pumps, including enlarged bore pumps, without modification. Seals are in stock to fit many split case, paper stock, and positive displacement pumps.

We design and build special AST80 seals for progressive cavity pumps and other systems that require more than a standard seal. Rebuild parts are still off-the-shelf.
